🛡️ ZERO-DATA CHILD PRIVACY COMMITMENT

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 2026 • Designed specifically for children, parents, and classrooms in full compliance with COPPA, GDPR-K, and Apple App Store Kids Category Guidelines.

✅ The "Plain English" Guarantee

  • Zero Personal Data Collected: We do not collect, store, transmit, or monetize names, email addresses, voice recordings, or device IDs.
  • 100% Offline by Design: The app operates entirely offline without an internet connection. No servers, no accounts, and no cloud uploads.
  • Zero Trackers & Zero Ads: There are no advertising SDKs, tracking frameworks, or third-party analytics installed.
  • Grown-Up Protected: Any external links (such as to our companion app on the App Store) are strictly guarded behind an interactive multiplication parental gate.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Unplugged Recorder is a self-contained local recording tool. We do not require registration or sign-in. We do NOT collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
  • Precise or coarse GPS location information
  • Advertising Identifiers (IDFA) or device tracking profiles
  • Voice audio recordings, book titles, or transcripts

2. Device Permissions Justification

To function as a voice recorder, the app requests standard iOS system permissions:

  • Microphone (NSMicrophoneUsageDescription): Used solely to capture your voice stories when you tap the Record button. Microphone audio is saved directly to your local device storage (or your chosen USB drive) and is never transmitted over any network.
  • External Files & Storage Access: When you connect an external USB-C drive or HDD and select a folder target, access is scoped strictly to that specific folder via iOS security bookmarks.

3. Children's Privacy Compliance (COPPA & GDPR-K)

We take children's safety and privacy with utmost seriousness:

  • We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union).
  • The app contains no third-party advertisements and no behavioral remarketing.
  • External links are guarded by a dynamically randomized mathematical parental gate to ensure children cannot inadvertently navigate away from the app.
