Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about recording podcasts, classroom deployments, safety safeguards, and audio rights.

What devices and iOS versions are supported?

The Unplugged Podcast Maker is optimized natively for both iPad and iPhone running iOS/iPadOS 17.0 or later. It runs fluidly across all iPad models (including iPad mini, standard iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro) and iPhone models.

Is the app safe for young kids and classrooms?

Yes, 100%! We strictly abide by COPPA, GDPR-K, and Apple's Kids Category requirements:

  • Zero accounts, logins, or student profiles.
  • 100% offline audio rendering inside the iOS sandbox. No cloud uploads.
  • Zero advertising, zero analytics trackers, and zero third-party telemetry.
  • Parental and educator settings are locked behind an interactive math problem gate.
Can I import our own background music or songs?

Yes! Custom music import is 100% free for all users. In the sound library palette, tap "Upload Custom Track" to select any MP3, M4A, or WAV file from the iOS Files app, iCloud Drive, or Google Drive. The app automatically computes an instant true waveform for the timeline.

Can students plug in external USB microphones or headphones?

Yes. The app natively supports external USB microphones (such as Blue Yeti, Rode, Shure) via USB-C or Lightning adapters, as well as wired 3.5mm headsets and AirPods. Live headphone input monitoring allows podcasters to hear their voice in real-time with feedback protection locks.

What is the 15-Day Safety Trash Bin?

Young creators sometimes accidentally tap delete. Instead of permanently losing their hard work, deleted episodes are safely held in the Recently Deleted Trash Bin for 15 days with a visible countdown timer. A single tap restores the episode back to the studio.

How does the Copyright Dispute Shield work for YouTube/TikTok?

All 70 bundled sound effects and 6 soundtrack themes are original recordings licensed by Sethi De Clercq under Creative Commons CC-BY 4.0. They are intentionally opted out of automated Content ID registries. If an automated bot ever mistakenly flags your podcast episode on YouTube, open the Grown-Ups menu in the app and tap "Copy Dispute Statement" to paste verified legal clearance proof directly into the dispute form.

How does educational volume licensing work (Apple School Manager)?

We fully support Apple School Manager and the Volume Purchase Program (VPP). Schools deploying iPads via Mobile Device Management (MDM like Jamf, Mosyle, or Intune) can deploy licenses seamlessly to student tablets with educational discounts.

How do I restore my purchase on a new iPad?

Simply open the app on your new device, go to the Grown-Ups menu (or open the Pro screen), and tap "Restore Existing Purchase". Since it is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID, it will immediately unlock Pro at no additional charge.
